A couple of weeks ago my bed frame gave out. I got a little creative, and used some books that have been taking up space on my shelf. Voila! Now I’m sittin’ (or sleeping) pretty.
The books are: Jonathan Franzen’s “Freedom“, Jonathan Franzen’s “The Corrections“, Norman Mailer’s “Ancient Evenings”, and Sister Souljah’s “Midnight”. All of these books make my skin crawl, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to toss books, even the ones I hate.
What do you think? Is this bad? Are the book gods going to come down from Mt. Papyrus and smite me? How do you re-purpose your books or book products?
T.

I’m pretty sure I would use “Open City” by Teju Cole and “Zone One” to prop up my bed if it ever needed propping up.

You know, I read his interview in the Paris Review, which was interesting because it illuminated his approach to writing and his experience. I think from that perspective it’s cool to analyze his work in that way. But from a general reading/entertainment perspective, I wasnt amused. It really just bored me.
